Discuss a project

Masons first. Contractors second.

Walker Conservation has over 35 years’ experience of prestigious work across the UK, on some of the finest listed buildings there are: cathedrals, stately homes and churches.

Time-served stonemasons

Adrian and Marcus are both time-served stonemasons. Over many decades they have built long-standing relationships with many of the leading architects and surveyors in conservation, and with the clients who come back to them project after project.

§ 02

Forty years of combined experience

Over the last twenty years their projects have won awards, including the RICS award for the Best Conservation Project in the UK in 2012, and several more have been Highly Recommended. Nenthead Chapel was shortlisted in both the Heritage and Leisure categories.

§ 03

Quality of workmanship

Adrian and Marcus know that quality depends on devoted craftsmen and on training apprentices. So they built an in-house team of stonemasons, carpenters, leadworkers, lime plasterers and pointers, supported by a high-quality network of specialist subcontractors developed over thirty years.

How we workFrom tender to handover

Survey. Protect. Repair. Hand back.

  1. 01

    Read the building

Before we price, we look. A mason’s survey of what has failed and why shapes a tender that won’t surprise anyone later.

  2. 02

    Protect it

Temporary roofs, birdcage scaffolds and propping go up first, so the fabric and the congregation stay safe and dry.

  3. 03

    Repair, don’t replace

Our own trades do the work. When something unexpected turns up, you get clear statements of savings and variations, never a surprise invoice.

  4. 04

    Hand it back in use

Churches keep their services, estates keep their visitors, and the building is ready for the next century.
